All across California’s Central Coast, people will gather together to honor and celebrate our veterans. Veteran’s Day (or Armistice Day as it was formerly known) marks the end of WWI—November 11th, 1918—but is now a legal holiday that recognizes the sacrifices that all veterans have made to preserve our freedoms.

Here are 3 places to where you can mark this day and pay tribute to our veterans:

Cambria Veteran’s Day:  A day spent in Cambria is a good day anytime of the year, but on Veteran’s Day, you can pay tribute and honor our veterans with at a service and ceremony at the Vets Hall on Main Street. Afterwards, enjoy a BBQ hosted by the Sons of the American Legion, and share your thanks with all of the veterans in attendance.

Veteran’s Day Celebration on the Pier:  In South County, you can honor our veterans on the Pismo Beach Pier where you can share in a special service and then enjoy music and scenic views.

Atascadero Faces of Freedom Memorial: The Atascadero Faces of Freedom Memorial is a beautiful tribute created to honor our veterans, so this Veteran’s Day, head over to Atascadero for a ceremony at The Faces of Freedom Memorial, then stay for music and a community BBQ featuring tri-tip sandwiches and hot dogs. Then, on mark your calendars for Saturday, November 12th--The Charles Paddock Zoo will host an Armed Forces Day and all Active Duty Military men, women, and their immediate families receive free admission to the zoo!

Wherever you are this Veteran’s Day, whether in Cambria,Pismo Beach, Atascadero, or any of the other beautiful cities that make up California’s Central Coast, take a moment or two to pause and give thanks to our veterans who served to protect our freedom.
